NEWS UPDATE: TYPHOON JUAN

Metro Manila now feels the anger of typhoon "Juan" (international codename: Megi) as it continued to move away from the Philippines and towards the South China Sea.

Lately 5 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) plotted Juan at 210 kilometers west southwest of Laoag City and moving northwest at 22 kilometers per hour with maximum winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

According to PAGASA, ccasional rains will be experienced in the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon as Juan continues to exit the country.

Metro Manila is experiencing Signal No. 1. Even it is only Signal No. 1 , DepEd suspended classes for all levels in NCR. (from Pre school to College Students)

According to the DepEd Order no. 28 series of 2005

• Classes in pre-school level in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended with storm number 1.

• Classes in pre-school, elementary and high school in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended with storm signal number 2.

• Classes in all levels are automatically suspended with storm signal number 3.

• All travel and outdoor activities are cancelled with storm signal number 4.
